The Mission of WAR is to promote gender equality, prevent and respond to gender based violence through public education, advocacy, research, and survivor support.
WoMen Against Rape is a human rights orginization that primarily supports women and children who experience abuse of all forms. WAR was founded in 1993 in Maun, Northwest District, by four women who came together as a result of their concern following the lack of support as well as access to justice for rape victims.
The organization was founded on the ethos of activism and volunteerism hence it is non profit. WAR was formally registered as a trust in 1995. WAR's strategies are geared at addressing the social issues that contribute to abuse of women and children through offering psychosocial counseling , safe house/ Shelter, public education, advocacy and lobbying as well as skills empowerment.

To reduce the incidences and impact of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the Northwest District through empowerment of women and children, providing support for survivors, public education, and legal reform.
